The state of California is ready to vote on casino expansion. According to gaming law, aboriginal tribes in California have been spending money with record highs all in hopes of being granted expansions to their casinos. Voters will decide whether or not four tribes of California will be able to add an astounding number of 5,500 additional slot machines in return for sharing up to one-quarter of gaming revenues with the state.

The California casinos are thinking big as this legislation would see these tribes able to operate casinos twice as large as the largest casino in Las Vegas. If passed, these casinos will have room for 7,500 slot machines and an unlimited number of table games.

California first voted for tribal gaming ten years ago. The California Supreme Court overturned that initiative which was written and funded by the tribes. However in eight years ago aboriginal gambling was voted for again and approved. In 2006, deals were made with the Governor’s office to expand the tribes’ casinos, but unions were quick to lash out against the deal as it would not be benefiting them. The union filed papers with the State Attorney General's Office and now California voters will decide whether to expand casino gambling in the state.

The tribal casinos have been known to write a large check to defeat voter initiatives that do not agree with them. But this time there are other casinos that are not included in the four that are gaining from this legislation, that are afraid they will be forgotten if the four tribal casinos get their expansion.
